Got up super early and left my friends to meet my guide at 6.30am.
Drove about 3 hours by motorbike to nearby the Thai Burma border (I had no idea the trek was that far away) but anyway. felt a bit nervous about going solo with my guide- safety reasons- but whatever. we arrived at lesou(?) hill tribe and started walking from there. Across the beautiful rice fields, old corn crops, new soya bean growths, wild flowers in spring, funnel web spiders, jungle, along streams.. it was incredible. We sat in peaceful silence on our rest breaks staring at the land before us. I lost my iPhone sliding down a mountain face - realized about 10 mins later- by some miracle we found it in the dirt under the leaves. I feel like I got bitten by a variety of exotic insects in the jungle and stung by an angry plant or two. but my feet are dirty and my scratches from yesterday’s bike accident are healing and now I’m in a bamboo hut sleeping the night with a hill tribe that doesn’t speak English or Thai. all I can say is hello. “Abooyah!”
